Cherubini 44

Elysium, Cherubini 44

Launched April, 2008

This is the first Cherubini 44 built since 1990. She is was commissioned by the owner of Cherubini 44 Sunshyner. After sailing Sunshyner for 23 years, he felt she was just prefect, but in need of restoration and upgrading. He decided that it made sense to build a new boat, with modern materials and equipment, but to make her almost exactly like Sunshyner. Her interior layout reflects his wishes, inch for inch replicating Sunshyner.

Elysium has gorgeous bright work, but not too much to maintain.

Her Dorade ventilators and special Cherubini ports insure good ventilation, even when it is raining.

Modern chart plotting is available at the helm on this new yacht.

Coming down the companionway into the aft cabin, there is a comfortable sea berth to port and a navigation area over the engine compartment, with a folding seat.

Cane locker doors are in this cabin and throughout the boat.

Forward of this bunk is a chest of drawers as well as the electrical panel as well as several other small panels to control various systems on the boat.

To starboard is a seat and a hanging locker for foul weather gear. Outboard is a comfortable bunk, with ample stowage areas.

Continuing forward on the starboard side is the head.

The head compartment was molded in fiberglass, to minimize maintenance and simplify cleaning.

Both a holding tank and and a sewage treatment unit are installed behind the cabinets.

The head has two doors, so it can be entered either from the aft cabin or from the main cabin.

A third door can separate the aft from the main cabin.

The sink and surrounding curved counter surfaces in the head are elegant and easy to clean.

Opposite the head on the port side is an elegant, well lit U-shaped galley.

Sinks are on the aft bulkhead. Outboard of the sink is a microwave, which can be hidden by its caned door. The gimbaled stove with oven is outboard, and refrigerator/freezer are in the forward side.

Note the stowage lockers below, in front, and aft of the microwave.

The refrigerator and freezer are very large.

The main salon (port side) is just forward of the galley. This settee is also a very comfortable berth.

The classic folding table includes lockers for bottles or cutlery.

Recessed lighting in the locker areas gives a special warm feeling in the cabin.

The starboard side of the main cabin is similarly comfortable.

Just aft of the starboard settee are lockers and cabinets that house AM/FM/CD player as well as air conditioning equipment.

The CD on the counter is Luigi Cherubini's Symphony in D Major.

On the bulkhead immediately behind this area (in front of the head) is a flat screen TV.

(A companionway to the cabin top can be installed in this area if desired.)

The forward cabin features two vee berths, with stowage lockers above.

On both port and starboard sides of the forward cabin are large wardrobes, with drawers and hanging lockers.

Here is the port side.

On the forward side of the bulkhead is a large dressing mirror.

Webmaster apologizes that he has not figured out a way of photographing a mirror without appearing in the picture.

Throughout the interior, she has a gorgeous solid teak cabin sole.

This photo shows forward from the main cabin.
