See the natural progression of this storied yacht company from the beginning.

1937 The First Build

Brothers John & Frit Cherubini build a double-planked sailboat from plans they purchased from Rudder Magazine in the cellar of their family home.

1938 John E. Cherubini Studies with Westlawn

John learns naval architecture through the Westlawn Institute of Marine Technology.

Late 1940s Dream Sketches

John Cherubini begins the drawings for his idea of a personal dream boat.

1950s & Early 60s A Family Boat Building Business

Leon Cherubini and his sons John, Frit, Richard, Joe and Tom run a small business in Burlington, NJ building the Moth, Thistle and Lightning class sailboats and a variety of dinghies. Tar Baby was also built, the first Cherubini original that John and Frit created from scrap lumber and a lot of roofing tar. The Sea Scamp was in production then as well, a small outboard runabout designed by John.

1960s Blue Sky Thinking

John Cherubini worked for a period of time as a successful aeronautical engineer with Boeing.

1972 A Pocket Yacht John designed the Essex 26, a trailerable center cockpit boat with six berths. It could be rigged as a sloop or ketch. They were built by the Essex Company from 1972 to 1976.

1973 The Hunter Marine Years

John Cherubini helps launch Warren Luhrs' Hunter Marine, designing the 25, 27, 30, 33, 36, with a concept hull still on the drawing board for a 54.

1975 The Dream Comes True

John finally puts the finishing touches on the drawings for a 44 foot sailboat he had been dreaming up since the late 40s. He and brother Frit begin construction of the very first Cherubini 44.

1977 The First Cherubini 44 Launched

White Hawk, the realization of years of sketching and perfecting, actually splashes!

1977 Launching the Trawler Generation

John Cherubini was called upon to design the first Mainship Trawler, a 34 foot boat, and later he would design the Mainship 40.

The Raider 33

John designs a performance sailboat to be produced by brother Joe and his sons.

1980 One of a Kind

John Cherubini designs a 48 foot center cockpit sailboat with a large aft cabin to be built by Clay Talbot in New Orleans. Only one was ever produced.

1983 The First Schooner

Frit Cherubini's dreamboat, the
Cherubini 48 Staysail Schooner is born.

1995 The Long Range Trawler

Cherubini builds the Independence, initially a 45 foot luxury trawler built for distance, comfort and wanderlust.

2002 A New Generation of Cherubini Yachts

The introduction of the Cherubini Classic 20 launches an entire line of sport boats that thrill the soul and transport you to another time.

2008 An Encore Performance

The Cherubini Classic 24 is introduced, building on the success of her little sister.

2011 Another Debut

The Cherubini Classic 255 Sport Boat makes its debut to rave reviews at the Palm Beach Boat Show.
